Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's life story blends the merits of family sports academic scholarship with volunteerism in the community. Selmon is the youngest of children from Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Semon. They brought him up on their farm in Eufala. On the football field, he competed alongside three brothers in Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-Americans. For 1973 Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the players for just one season. Lee Roy received the Outland & Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman in the nation. During his three seasons as the Oklahoma's starting line-up and the team went three-and-a-half and won two championships. Third scholarship he was named as a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon graduated with a master's degree in educational studies. Fourth year of college Lee Roy devoted ten hours per week to volunteer projects. After graduating, he settled in Tampa where he played nine years with the Buccaneers were all-pro three times, before beginning a new business career. He began his career in 1988. was working as an Account Relation Officer in the First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder Lee Roy was named one of the top 10 young men in the country in 1982 by the Junior Chamber of Commerce in 1982. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265lbs when playing in the college football league. The year 1975 was the first time he commanded the team. He was named associate director of Athletics at the University of South Florida, in 1993. The College Football Hall of Fame named him in the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame In 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame In 1995. In 1989 The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented the Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor that presented the award.
